Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean conveys Birthday Greetings from Singapore to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzadin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam

Senior Minister (SM) and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean visited Brunei Darussalam from 13 to 15 July 2021 to attend the 75th birthday celebrations of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. SM Teo attended the Royal Guard of Honour Ceremony and Investiture Ceremony this morning and had an audience with His Majesty in the afternoon. 

 

At his audience with His Majesty, SM Teo conveyed birthday greetings from Singapore’s leaders. SM Teo reaffirmed the special and unique relationship between Singapore and Brunei and discussed ways to grow the close cooperation between both countries, especially amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. 

 

On 13 and 14 July, SM Teo met Special Adviser to His Majesty the Sultan and Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Bakti Diraja Dato Laila Utama Haji Awang Isa bin Pehin Datu Perdana Manteri Dato Laila Utama Haji Awang Ibrahim, Minister of Defence II Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Foreign Affairs II Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, and Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah. SM Teo also had tea with a group of senior officials from various Bruneian ministries. In his meetings with Bruneian leaders and officials, SM Teo discussed ways to strengthen our bilateral cooperation amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and to build back stronger, including in areas such as defence cooperation, economic ties, regional cooperation and the socio-cultural sphere.
