Senior Minister (SM) and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean made a working visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 20 to 22 January 2022. SM Teo officiated at the Singapore Day ceremony at Expo 2020 Dubai with the Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence His Highness Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan. SM Teo unveiled the Dendrobium Expo 2020 Dubai orchid which was named in honour of the Expo.
SM Teo met and was hosted to lunch by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior His Highness Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. SM Teo and Sheikh Saif reaffirmed the warm ties and close security cooperation between Singapore and the UAE. They also exchanged views on recent developments in the region.
Separately, SM Teo met Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance and Deputy Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. They discussed the common challenges and opportunities that Singapore and the UAE shared as financial and business hubs in our respective regions, and agreed to further strengthen collaboration in these areas.
In Abu Dhabi, SM Teo was hosted to lunch by Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority and Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer of the Mubadala Investment Company His Excellency Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak. SM Teo and Chairman Khaldoon welcomed the good progress in bilateral cooperation through the Abu Dhabi-Singapore Joint Forum. They agreed to explore cooperation in new areas such as sustainability, hydrogen and renewable energy. SM Teo also met Chairman of Hedayah and Chairman of the Defense Affairs, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee of the UAE Federal National Council, His Excellency Dr Ali Al Nuaimi. They had a wide-ranging exchange on developments in the region.
SM Teo arrived in Singapore on 23 January 2022.
