Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Foreign Affairs and Second Minister for Education, Dr Mohamed Maliki Osman, is currently in Qatar for the 20th Doha Forum. Minister Maliki attended the Forum’s opening ceremony on 26 March, officiated by His Highness Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani. Minister Maliki also attended a Gala Dinner hosted by Sheikh Tamim for the Heads of Delegation.
Minister Maliki also met Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Bin Jassim Al Thani. They reaffirmed the close ties between Singapore and Qatar, and had a good exchange of views on global developments.
In addition, Minister Maliki had separate bilateral meetings with Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Her Excellency Retno Marsudi, Omani Foreign Minister His Excellency Sayyid Badr Bin Hamad Bin Hamood Al Busaidi, and Malaysian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs YB Dato' Kamarudin Jaffar. Minister Maliki and his counterparts discussed bilateral ties and regional developments.
Minister Maliki will speak at an exclusive Ministerial Panel titled “Perilous Waters: Peace and Prosperity in the Indo-Pacific” on 27 March, the second day of the Forum.
