Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea (ROK) Park Jin, who is in Singapore for an official visit from 5 to 7 July, called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. He also met and was hosted to dinner by Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan.
Prime Minister Lee and Minister Park reaffirmed the warm and longstanding ties between Singapore and the ROK. Both sides also had a good exchange of views on regional and international developments. Prime Minister Lee welcomed the ROK’s interest to expand and broaden cooperation with ASEAN.
Minister Balakrishnan and Minister Park had a fruitful discussion on ways to expand bilateral cooperation, including in areas such as digitalisation, fintech and supply chain resilience. They reaffirmed the strong ASEAN-ROK relations and Minister Balakrishnan welcomed the ROK’s continued engagement of the region. The two Ministers discussed regional issues, including the Korean Peninsula, and affirmed the importance of maintaining an open and inclusive regional architecture.
