Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan's Call on President of the Swiss Confederation Ignazio Cassis, 13 October 2022

Minister Balakrishnan called on President of the Swiss Confederation Ignazio Cassis in Geneva, Switzerland on 13 October 2022.

  President Cassis and Minister Balakrishnan reaffirmed the strong and longstanding relationship between Singapore and Switzerland, underpinned by close cooperation, including in the financial, education, and research and development sectors. They discussed expediting negotiations on a Digital Economy Agreement which will allow our people and businesses to harness new opportunities and enhance connectivity and interoperability.

President Cassis and Minister Balakrishnan also discussed the importance for small states to uphold the rules-based international order, which has facilitated global peace and prosperity for many decades.

Minister Balakrishnan commended Switzerland for hosting the Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipator Summit to strengthen collaboration between science and diplomacy.
