Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan's Meetings in New Delhi, India, 1 & 3 March 2023

Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan met External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval today, and Minister of Education and Minister of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan on 1 March 2023.

           The Ministers reaffirmed the longstanding and close ties between Singapore and India. They had wide ranging discussions on regional and global developments, as well as areas to enhance bilateral cooperation, including in capacity building and skills development. 

           Minister Balakrishnan and Minister Jaishankar reaffirmed the India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable as a good platform for Singapore and India to collaborate in emerging areas including digitalisation, sustainability, healthcare and skills development. Both Ministers welcomed the recently launched real-time cross-border payment systems linkage between Singapore’s PayNow and India’s UPI (Unified Payments Interface). Minister Balakrishnan also expressed Singapore’s intention to join the International Solar Alliance (ISA), which is co-led by India and France, as part of collective efforts on climate action.

          Minister Balakrishnan departs for Singapore this evening.
