Singapore will host regional leaders from the Republic of Indonesia for the 2nd RISING Fellowship from 6 to 10 March 2023. The theme for the Fellowship is “Fostering Recovery and Rebuilding in a Post-Pandemic World”.
The delegation will meet Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Education and Minister-in-charge of Public Service Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Health Ong Ye Kung, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Foreign Affairs and Second Minister for Education Dr Maliki Osman, and Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Senior Minister of State for National Development Sim Ann. The delegation will attend briefings and site visits on public health, economic development, and climate change. They will also observe a Meet-the-People Session and attend a business networking reception.
The RISING Fellowship was first announced by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Indonesian President Joko Widodo at the Singapore-Indonesia Leaders’ Retreat in 2018. The Fellowship seeks to deepen ties between Singapore and Indonesia’s regional leaders through the sharing of insights and exchange of best practices. The RISING Fellowship is jointly organised by the Civil Service College (CSC), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Temasek Foundation, Indonesia’s National Institute of Public Administration, and Indonesia’s Ministry of Home Affairs.
