Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan is making a working visit to the United States from 14 to 20 June 2023.
In Washington D.C., Minister Balakrishnan will meet senior officials from the Biden Administration and Members of Congress. The visit will build on the robust and multi-faceted relationship between Singapore and the US, and explore ways to advance cooperation in various fields, including in new and emerging areas.
In New York, Minister Balakrishnan will attend the first day of the further resumed fifth session of the Intergovernmental Conference on an international legally binding instrument under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) on the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity of areas beyond national jurisdiction (BBNJ IGC) on 19 June 2023, where he will deliver Singapore’s National Statement. Minister Balakrishnan will also meet United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and President of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly Csaba Kőrösi.
