Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Bui Thanh Son is on an Official Visit to Singapore.
Minister Son called on Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean this afternoon. They reaffirmed the excellent relations between Singapore and Vietnam and discussed regional and international developments.
Earlier today, Minister Son had a meeting with Minister Balakrishnan, who also hosted him to lunch at Maxwell Food Centre. They reaffirmed the deep and multi-faceted relations between our two countries, underpinned by strong people-to-people ties, growing trade and investments, and close political ties between our leaders. Both Ministers agreed to further step up our substantive economic links and strengthen cooperation in emerging areas such as renewable energy, carbon credits, and the digital economy. Minister Son and Minister Balakrishnan also discussed international and regional developments, including the South China Sea and ASEAN.
Minister Son and Minister Balakrishnan were also the joint Guests-of-Honour at a Dinner Reception organised by the Vietnam Embassy in Singapore on 17 July to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of the Singapore-Vietnam Strategic Partnership this year.
Minister Son will depart Singapore today.
