Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong will make a working visit to the United States from 5 to 15 October 2023. DPM Wong will visit Arizona, New York, and Washington D.C.. The visit will build on the robust and multi-faceted relationship between Singapore and the United States.
In Arizona, DPM Wong will visit Peace Carvin II, the Republic of Singapore Air Force’s (RSAF) F-16 fighter training detachment at Luke Air Force Base. Established in 1993, it is the RSAF’s longest-running overseas detachment.
In New York City, DPM Wong will attend the GIC Investment Forum. He will also launch a new Global Innovation Alliance node in New York City led by Enterprise Singapore, to support the expansion of Singapore-based tech startups and SMEs into New York and the wider US market.
In Washington D.C., DPM Wong will meet Cabinet Secretaries and senior officials from the Biden Administration. The meetings will discuss ways to further bilateral cooperation in new emerging areas. DPM Wong will also deliver opening remarks at the inaugural US-Singapore Dialogue on Critical and Emerging Technologies, and participate in a dialogue at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
DPM Wong will be accompanied by Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Communications and Information Josephine Teo, Minister of State, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth and Ministry of Trade and Industry Alvin Tan, as well as officials from the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ministry of Finance.
