Working Visit by His Royal Highness Prince William, The Prince of Wales, 5 to 8 November 2023

His Royal Highness (H.R.H.) Prince William, The Prince of Wales, made a working visit to Singapore from 5 to 8 November 2023 to attend the Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony and related events.

 

On 5 November, H.R.H Prince William, accompanied by Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of National Development, Sim Ann, visited the Rain Vortex and Forest Valley at Jewel Changi Airport, where a Tembusu tree was planted in his honour.

 

On 6 November, H.R.H. Prince William paid a courtesy call on President Tharman Shanmugaratnam. They discussed the impact of climate change, as well as the innovative solutions to pressing environmental issues by the Earthshot Prize finalists and award winners. H.R.H. Prince William also called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Besides exchanging views on the Earthshot Prize projects, they noted the longstanding and excellent relations between Singapore and the United Kingdom.

 

On 7 November, H.R.H. Prince William attended the Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony, where he met Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, who delivered opening remarks at the event as the Singapore Government’s representative. Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Grace Fu also attended the Awards Ceremony.

 

On 8 November, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong joined H.R.H. Prince William on a hike to the TreeTop Walk at MacRitchie Reservoir. During the hike, they met representatives from NParks and NParks’ Youth Stewards for Nature programme, as well as the 2022 Earthshot Prize finalist Ms Isabelle Lackman.

 

H.R.H. Prince William will depart Singapore tonight.
