Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa Paul Mashatile will make an Official Visit to Singapore from 10 to 12 December 2023, at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies Heng Swee Keat. This is his first official visit to Singapore in his current capacity.
Deputy President Mashatile’s visit coincides with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with South Africa and builds on the positive momentum in bilateral relations following Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s Official Visit to South Africa in May this year. Singapore and South Africa enjoy a broad-based partnership, with bilateral cooperation in a wide range of areas including trade and investment, air connectivity, information and communications technology, and skills development.
During his visit, Deputy President Mashatile will call on President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lee and be hosted to lunch by Deputy Prime Minister Heng. Deputy President Mashatile will also visit Marina Barrage and ITE College Central, and receive a briefing on Singapore’s SkillsFuture movement. Deputy President Mashatile will also deliver a public lecture at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.
