Sultan of Oman His Majesty Haitham Bin Tarik will make a State Visit to Singapore from 13 to 15 December 2023 at President Tharman Shanmugaratnam’s invitation. This will be Oman’s first State Visit to Singapore and reflects Singapore’s growing engagement of the Middle East.
Sultan Haitham will receive a ceremonial welcome at the Istana on 14 December. He will call on President Tharman, who will host a State Banquet in his honour. Sultan Haitham will separately meet Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong. Sultan Haitham will visit the Singapore Botanic Gardens where a new orchid hybrid will be named after him. Sultan Haitham will also be briefed on Singapore’s Smart Nation initiatives and the Future Economy Council.
Sultan Haitham will be accompanied by a high-level delegation which includes Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs His Highness Sayyid Shihab Bin Tarik Al Said, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court His Excellency Sayyid Khalid Bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of Royal Office His Excellency General Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Nomani, Foreign Minister His Excellency Sayyid Badr Bin Hamad Bin Hamood Al Busaidi, Head of His Majesty’s Private Office His Excellency Dr Hamad Bin Said Al Aufi, Oman Investment Authority President His Excellency Abdulsalam Bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion His Excellency Qais Bin Mohammed Al Yousef, and Minister of Energy and Minerals His Excellency Eng Salem Bin Nasser Al Aufi.
