Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan will make an official visit to Portugal from 3 to 6 January 2024 and to Denmark from 6 to 9 January 2024.
Minister Balakrishnan’s visit to Portugal will be an opportunity to build on Singapore and Portugal’s close cultural links and deepen cooperation in emerging areas including sustainable development, climate change and biotechnology. In Lisbon, Minister Balakrishnan will deliver the keynote address at the annual Diplomatic Seminar of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal on 4 January. Minister Balakrishnan will also hold a joint press conference with Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs João Gomes Cravinho, meet the Mayor of Lisbon Carlos Moedas, and interact with senior Portuguese business leaders.
Minister Balakrishnan’s visit to Denmark underscores Singapore and Denmark’s strong economic, maritime, and people-to-people relations. In Copenhagen, Minister Balakrishnan will meet Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Troels Lund Poulsen, Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities Lars Aagaard, Minister for Digitalisation Marie Bjerre, as well as senior Danish business leaders.
Minister Balakrishnan will also engage Singaporeans in Portugal and Denmark.
He will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
