PRESS STATEMENT
OFFICIAL VISIT BY PRIME MINISTER LEE HSIEN LOONG TO THE STATE OF QATAR
14 TO 16 DECEMBER 2008
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will be making an official visit to the State of Qatar, which is currently the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Chairman, from 14 to 16 December 2008 to sign the GCC-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (GSFTA). Prime Minister Lee is visiting Qatar at the invitation of the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabr Al-Thani. The GSFTA will be the GCC's first ever FTA. Prime Minister Lee will be accompanied by Mrs Lee, Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Zainul Abidin Rasheed, Senior Minister of State for Finance and Transport Mrs Lim Hwee Hua, as well as government officials.
In Qatar, Prime Minister Lee will meet with Amir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, and Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabr Al-Thani. Prime Minister Lee will also visit the newly opened Museum of Islamic Arts in Doha.
