The Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste Dr Rui Maria de Araújo called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong this afternoon. Timor-Leste’s Minister of State, Coordinator of Economic Affairs and Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Estanislau da Silva, Minister of Defence Cirilo Cristóvão and Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Roberto Soares were also present at the meeting.
Prime Minister Lee and Prime Minister Araújo reaffirmed the warm and long-standing relations between Singapore and Timor-Leste. Prime Minister Araújo briefed Prime Minister Lee on developments in Timor-Leste, including its plans for economic and structural reform, and the two Prime Ministers discussed ways to broaden bilateral cooperation. Prime Minister Lee reiterated Singapore’s commitment to assisting Timor-Leste in its ongoing capacity-building efforts through the provision of technical assistance.
Prime Minister Araújo, who is on a stopover in Singapore, will depart tomorrow.
