MFA Spokesman's Comments on the Attack at a Night Club in Istanbul, Turkey, 1 January 2017

     Singapore condemns the attack at the Reina Club in the Ortakoy district in Istanbul on 1 January 2017 which has resulted in the loss of many lives and injuries.  We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families and wish those injured a speedy recovery.

 

     MFA has reached out to Singaporeans who are eRegistered in Istanbul. The Singapore Embassy in Ankara is also in close contact with the local Turkish authorities on this incident.  Thus far, there are no reports of any Singaporeans directly affected or injured by the incident.

 

     Singaporeans in Turkey are advised to exercise vigilance.  They should also monitor the local news and follow the instructions of the Turkish authorities.  They are also advised to keep in touch with their family and friends so that they know you are safe.  Singaporeans who require consular assistance are advised to contact the Singapore Embassy in Ankara or the 24-hour MFA Duty Office at:
