Singapore strongly condemns the terrorist attack on Al-Rawdah mosque in the North Sinai city of Bir Al-Abed in Egypt during Friday prayers on 24 November 2017, in which some 235 were killed and over 109 injured. Those responsible for this odious act must be brought to justice. We express our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wish the injured a swift recovery. Singapore stands together with the Egyptian government and people against the scourge of terrorism in this time of national mourning.
Our Embassy in Cairo has been in contact with the Egyptian authorities. There are currently no e-registered Singaporeans in Bir Al-Abed and no reports of Singaporeans injured in this incident thus far. Singaporeans in Egypt are advised to monitor the news, heed local authorities’ advice and keep in touch with their families and friends to let them know they are safe.
