                   I would like to extend my warmest congratulations on your election as President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. 

 

                   Relations between Singapore and Myanmar are longstanding and multi-faceted, encompassing areas such as trade and investment, education, finance, health, legal cooperation, and vocational education.  Our people-to-people ties are strong and growing.  In April this year, we will mark the 50th anniversary of our diplomatic relations.  It is a significant milestone and I am certain that our bilateral relations will continue to strengthen in existing and new fields. 

 

                    I wish you success and would like to extend an invitation to you and Daw Su Su Lwin to visit Singapore at the earliest opportunity.
