The Consulate-General in Hong Kong was glad to have supported the event. Consul-General Foo Teow Lee (CG) and officials from the Consulate-General were present at the event.
In CG Foo’s opening remarks, she pointed out that Mr Wong was the pioneer who had launched OSU in March 2006. Back then as Singapore’s DPM, Mr Wong saw the importance of connecting overseas Singaporeans back to home. Mr Wong was also responsible for launching the OSU Speakers Series and had met with many corporate leaders to seek their support to engage overseas Singaporeans at the Speaker Series.
Mr Wong, also Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister from 2005 to 2011, is a familiar name to all Singaporeans. Having vast experience in the foreign affairs portfolio and his current business experience in Singapore and China, Mr Wong shared his perspectives on the evolving global political landscape, Singapore’s foreign relations and Singapore’s developments including its economic outlook in his speech and the Q&A. These were issues that our overseas Singaporeans are deeply concerned with.
On the whole, it was an evening of networking, good food, and good insights. On behalf of the Singaporeans in Hong Kong, the Consulate would like to express our appreciation to OSU for making this event a success. We look forward to the Speakers Series in Hong Kong in 2018 next year.
Keep up the good work, OSU!
