HONG KONG, 25 April 2018. Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) Ong Ye Kung visited Hong Kong at the invitation of the Hong Kong Government under the Sponsored Visitors’ Programme (SVP). The SVP is one of the platforms used by the Hong Kong Government to invite distinguished guests to visit and to better understand the developments in Hong Kong.
During his visit to Hong Kong, Minister Ong was hosted to lunch by Chief Secretary for Administration Matthew Cheung where both of them exchanged views on latest developments in Singapore and Hong Kong. Secretary for Justice Teresa Cheng also briefed Minister Ong on the legal system and developments in Hong Kong on the legal front. Minster Ong also met Secretary for Innovation and Technology Nicholas Yang and Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Patrick Nip to discuss about developments and possible collaboration between Hong Kong and Singapore in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Minister Ong also met Secretary for Education Kevin Yeung to explore further areas of cooperation on the educational front.
While in Hong Kong, Minister Ong delivered a speech on Singapore’s external and domestic relations to business and community leaders in Hong Kong, met overseas Singaporeans based in Hong Kong at a reception and visited the Singapore International School (Hong Kong).
