Singapore Embassy Press release: Dr Goh Keng Swee Scholarship

The Singapore Embassy is now receiving applications for the prestigious Dr Goh Keng Swee (GKS) Scholarship. 


The GKS Scholarship was established by the financial community in Singapore to honour former Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore, Dr Goh Keng Swee, who helped foster Singapore's economic development and its growth as a reputable international financial centre. The GKS Scholarships will be awarded to outstanding individuals from the Asia-Pacific region to pursue undergraduate studies in approved disciplines at local universities in Singapore commencing July/August 2008. The course of study should preferably be relevant (but not necessarily related) to the financial sector.

Applicants must have outstanding GCE "A" level or equivalent qualifications acceptable for admission to the university concerned for the intended course of study. Those who are about to enter university and those already studying in university are also eligible to apply. Applicants must be fluent in English and preferably be below 25 years old. They must have good co-curricular activities records that highlight leadership qualities. To qualify, candidates must apply for admission to the Singapore universities directly for the intended course of study based on the respective university's admission deadlines and guidelines.

Each award will be for the minimum period of 3 to 4 years required to complete the course of study. The award will be reviewed annually subject to satisfactory performance and academic results. The scholarship will also provide return economy airfare, tuition fees, and other compulsory fees, as well as an annual allowance. Application forms can be obtained from:

Requests for forms must be accompanied by a stamped self-addressed envelope. The deadline for the submission of applications is 31 December 2007, Monday.
