Singapore and the Philippines convened the Fourth Informal Consultations on the Philippines-Singapore Action Plan (PSAP) on 11 December 2018 in Manila. The Singapore delegation, led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Deputy Secretary Peter Tan, met with the Philippine delegation, led by the Department of Foreign Affairs’ Assistant Secretary Meynardo Montealegre. The two delegations had a fruitful discussion on strengthening cooperation, particularly on economic ties, tourism and information technology, amongst others. Both sides also look forward to celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and the Philippines in 2019.
Established by Singapore Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong and Philippine President Fidel V Ramos, the PSAP is a broad-based and comprehensive umbrella network that provides a consolidated framework for strengthened bilateral cooperation in a wide spectrum of areas. It is also an invaluable opportunity for officials from both sides to exchange experiences and explore potential areas for further collaboration.
