Singapore Embassy Celebrates 50 Years of Singapore-Philippines Friendship

30 May 2019

The Singapore Embassy in Manila hosted an evening reception to celebrate 50 Years of Singapore-Philippines Friendship on 30 May 2019.  Acting Foreign Secretary Honorable Ernesto Abella attended the reception as Guest of Honour, and we also welcomed members of the Philippine government, the diplomatic and consular corps, as well as friends from the media and business communities.

The Embassy also took the opportunity to recognise the winner of the commemorative logo design competition, Mr Renante Corporal, at the reception.  Mr Corporal designed the official logo that is used for commemorative events this year, and the Singapore Tourism Board and Singapore Airlines are sponsoring Mr Corporal on a visit to Singapore.

In addition, Ambassador Gerard Ho, Acting Secretary Abella, and Postmaster General Joel Otarra also unveiled a set of joint commemorative stamps issued by the Singapore Post and the Philippine Postal Corporation to symbolise the close friendship between our two countries.

Guests were treated to authentic Singapore cuisine, including a commemorative cocktail, theNonya Confession, and also looked back at major milestones in the five decades of Singapore-Philippines relations on a set of story boards at the reception.  We look forward to the next 50 years of bilateral relations, and to future commemorative events this year.
