ASEAN, India organise family fun run to commemorate friendship
JAKARTA, 14 August 2017 – The ASEAN Secretariat and Indian Mission to ASEAN organised a fun run yesterday in Jakarta. The ASEAN-India Family Fun Run was held to celebrate ASEAN’s 50th anniversary and to commemorate 25 years of ASEAN-India friendship.
More than 1,700 runners participated in this 7K run which took place along the main streets of Jakarta. It started at 6:30 in the morning at ASEAN Secretariat in Sisingamangaraja to Semanggi bridge and back to the Secretariat. Participants joined the festivities and enjoyed the stage performances and games during the awarding.
AKP Mochtan, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for Community and Corporate Affairs Department and Suresh K. Reddy, Ambassador of India to ASEAN highlighted ASEAN’s 50th anniversary and 25 years of ASEAN-India relations in their brief remarks. Nguyen Hoanh Nam, Permanent Representative of Viet Nam to ASEAN said that “we are doing our best for stronger relationship between ASEAN and India.
Some ambassadors and diplomatic corps staffs joined the event together with the runners and their families. As Ambassador Reddy said in his remarks, “this event is not just for run, but for fun.”
