ASEAN to forge greater synergy to effectively address transnational crimes in the region

In his opening remarks, Undersecretary Catalino S. Cuy, Officer-in-Charge of the Department of the Interior and Local Government of the Philippines as Chair of the 11th AMMTC highlighted the need to forge greater synergy among ASEAN Member States in order to effectively address transnational crimes in the region. The ministers adopted the ASEAN Comprehensive Plan of Action on Counter Terrorism and the Manila Declaration to Counter the Rise of Radicalisation and Violent Extremism. The ASEAN ministers also met with their counterparts from China, Japan and the Republic of Korea to discuss the way forward in strengthening cooperation to combat transnational crimes.
