BANGKOK, 26 February 2019 –
The 8th ASEAN Cooperative Business Forum (ACBF) organised by Cooperation Promotion Department of Thailand kicked off today in Bangkok. The forum, which runs until 27 February, aims to establish more concrete cooperation between ASEAN agricultural cooperatives.

Following the success of the 7th ACBF last year in the Philippines, delegates from ASEAN sectoral working group for agricultural cooperative, farmers’ organisations, and development agencies across ASEAN came to exchange and share experiences in cooperative promotion and the success of cooperative products marketing.

Participants visited and learned about the successful agricultural cooperatives in Thailand. Further, they discussed the importance of enhancing the competitiveness of agricultural cooperatives’ products in the market.

ASEAN Foundation through its ASEAN Farmers’ Organisation Support Programme (AFOSP) also participated in the forum. “The ASEAN Foundation is honoured to be invited to the 8th ACBF,” said Yacinta Esti, the Project Manager of AFOSP. “It was a great opportunity to network with government, farmers’ organisations and to learn valuable knowledge on best practices that have been implemented by Thailand’s agriculture cooperatives. We believe this forum could encourage more collaboration to support agricultural cooperatives,” she added.
