Participants discussed how technology and agriculture businesses were able to bring about social changes. Through panel discussions, they further explored ideas on how the youth could collaborate more in the business sector while at the same time, contribute to the socio-economic development of ASEAN’s communities.

Among the participants were the 11th ASEAN Youth Award recipients, namely Md. Iqbal Fakhri Damit from Brunei Darussalam, Markara Nuon from Cambodia, Rici Solihin from Indonesia, Thavone Athsamoud from Lao PDR, Dailami Daiel Bin Mat Nor from Malaysia, Kay Thari Kyaw from Myanmar, Ray Alayannah Ysabel L. Lagasca from the Philippines, Mohamed Abbas Sheyef Ebramsa from Singapore, Krittapas Srisook from Thailand, and Võ Quân Duy from Viet Nam who delivered presentations on their efforts in uplifting vulnerable communities.

“I would like to see more youth being involved in solving issues in their communities, to see young people at the community become successful and responsible entrepreneurs. I also hope ASEAN will mobilise more funds and open spaces for youth to learn and take lead of what they are passionate about,” said Cambodia’s award recipient Markara Nuon.

The contribution of these youths toward ASEAN’s community building efforts were further celebrated through an award ceremony held during the Gala Dinner of the Eleventh ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Youth and witnessed by their respective ASEAN youth ministers or representatives.

The 23rd ASEAN Youth Day Meeting was co-organised by Lao Youth Union, the Young Entrepreneur Association of Laos and the ASEAN Secretariat.
