Senior Officials from ASEAN and New Zealand, meeting at the 25th ASEAN-New Zealand Dialogue in Jakarta on 11 April 2018, reaffirmed their strong ties and agreed to explore opportunities to further strengthen the strategic partnership. The dialogue was co-chaired by Jose Tavares, Director-General for ASEAN Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Indonesia and Ben King, Deputy Secretary, Asia and America Group, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of New Zealand. It was attended by senior representatives from ASEAN Member States and the ASEAN Secretariat. The officials noted the good progress made in the Plan of Action to Implement the Joint Statement for ASEAN-New Zealand Strategic Partnership (2016-2020) which is now halfway through its implementation.
