PR Tan Hung Seng attended the fifth meeting of the ASEAN-ROK Joint Cooperation Committee at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta on 20 April. The meeting was co-chaired by Norng Sakal, Permanent Representative of Cambodia to ASEAN as Country Coordinator of ASEAN-ROK Dialogue Relations, and Kim Young-chae, Ambassador of the ROK to ASEAN. At the meeting, both sides reviewed the implementation of the Plan of Action 2016-2020 and discussed the follow-up to the decisions of the ASEAN-ROK Summit which was held in November last year. Further, they exchanged views on recent developments in their respective regions, including developments on the Korean Peninsula. ASEAN Member States welcomed the New Southern Policy initiated by President Moon Jae-in in which the ROK will seek to substantially enhance cooperation with ASEAN to further deepen and broaden the ASEAN-ROK Strategic Partnership.
