ASEAN and the UN reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen their partnership at the interface between the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR) and UN Senior Officials held on 10 April 2018 at the ASEAN Secretariat. The meeting was co-chaired by Singapore’s Permanent Representative to ASEAN and Chair of the CPR, Ambassador Tan Hung Seng, and UN Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Mr. Miroslav Jenča. The interface noted the areas of cooperation across the three ASEAN Community pillars and underscored the need to step up cooperation to address transnational security challenges, enhance prevention of violent extremism, women empowerment, achieve sustainable development goals, and integrate the regional and global community in an increasingly digital world so that no one is left behind.
