MFA Press Statement: Visit by Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam to Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar for the 47th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting and related meetings, 7 to 10 August 2014

        Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam will attend the 47^th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting (AMM), Post-Ministerial Conferences (PMC), 21^st ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), 15^th ASEAN Plus Three (APT) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (FMM) and 4^th East Asia Summit (EAS) FMM in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar from 7 to 10 August 2014. 

        At the 47^th AMM, the ASEAN Foreign Ministers (FMs) will discuss issues related to ASEAN’s Community-building efforts, the regional architecture and ASEAN’s external relations.  They will also exchange views on regional and international issues.  At the PMCs, the ASEAN FMs will meet their counterparts from ASEAN’s Dialogue Partners (namely, Australia, Canada, China, European Union, India, Japan,  New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Russian Federation and the United States) to review the state of relations and ongoing cooperation.  The ASEAN FMs will also meet their counterparts from the APT, the EAS and the ARF to discuss the strengthening of cooperation and exchange views on regional and international developments.  The ASEAN FMs will meet the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) Representatives on 8 August 2014.
