ASEAN FOREIGN MINISTERS’ RETREAT, KOTA KINABALU, MALAYSIA 27 TO 28 JANUARY 2015

Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam will attend the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, from 27 to 28 January 2015.
This is the first in the series of ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meetings under Malaysia’s Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2015. This year marks an important milestone for ASEAN as it will realise the establishment of an ASEAN Community by the end of the year.
At the Retreat, the ASEAN Foreign Ministers will take stock of ASEAN’s Community-building and integration efforts, exchange ideas on the ASEAN Community’s Post-2015 Vision and discuss ways to further strengthen ASEAN. They will also discuss ASEAN’s relations with its external partners and exchange views on regional and international issues.
Minister Shanmugam will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
