MFA Press Statement: Visit by Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan to Chiang Mai, Thailand for the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Retreat, 17 to 18 January 2019
Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan will attend the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat from 17 to 18 January 2019 in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
This is the first in a series of meetings that Thailand will be hosting as Chair of ASEAN in 2019, under the theme of “Advancing Partnership for Sustainability”.
The Foreign Ministers will discuss ways to implement this theme, strengthen the ASEAN Community, and look into how ASEAN can implement sustainable plans that will improve the livelihood of our people. They will also exchange views on regional and international issues.
Minister Balakrishnan will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
