Visit by Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan to Bangkok, Thailand for the 52nd ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting and Related Meetings, 30 July to 2 August 2019

Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan will attend the 52nd ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM), Post Ministerial Conferences (PMCs), 20th ASEAN Plus Three (APT) Foreign Ministers Meeting (FMM), 9th East Asia Summit (EAS) FMM, and 26th ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) in Bangkok, Thailand from 30 July to 2 August 2019.

            At the 52nd AMM, the ASEAN Foreign Ministers (FMs) will take stock of progress in regional cooperation, follow up on the outcomes of the 34th ASEAN Summit in June 2019, discuss ways to strengthen ASEAN Centrality and unity, review ASEAN’s external relations, and exchange views on regional and international issues. 

            At the PMCs, Minister Balakrishnan will join the other ASEAN FMs in meeting their counterparts from ASEAN’s Dialogue Partners, namely Australia, Canada, China, the European Union, India, Japan, New Zealand, the Republic of Korea, Russia, and the United States, to discuss cooperation in various domains.  The ASEAN FMs will also engage their counterparts at the APT FMM, EAS FMM and ARF on key regional and international developments and the evolving regional architecture.

            Minister Balakrishnan will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
