Permanent Representative of Singapore to ASEAN Ambassador Kok Li Peng attended the Interface between the Committee of Permanent Representatives (CPR) and the United Nations (UN) on Tuesday, 15 September 2020. The meeting was co-chaired by Vietnamese Permanent Representative and Chair of the CPR Ambassador Tran Duc Binh and Assistant Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs and Peace Operations of the UN Mr Khaled Khiari.

During the meeting, the CPR and UN discussed regional and international developments, including the impact of COVID-19 both globally and in the region.  The meeting also considered the progress in the implementation of the ASEAN-UN Plan of Action (2016 - 2020) and noted with satisfaction that 94% of the action lines have been addressed.  The meeting also looked forward to the finalisation of the ASEAN-UN Plan of Action (2021 - 2025) for adoption later this year.

As 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the UN, the CPR conveyed a congratulatory video message to the UN, which was played at the start of the meeting.  The congratulatory message can be viewed here.
