Permanent Representative (PR) of Singapore to ASEAN Kok Li Peng attended the 20th ASEAN-Russia Joint Cooperation Committee (ARJCC) Meeting on 29 March 2022. The Meeting reviewed the ongoing implementation of the Comprehensive Plan of Action (CPA) to implement the ASEAN and Russian Federation Strategic Partnership (2021– 2025) and discussed the future direction of ASEAN-Russia cooperation. There was no discussion on the “ASEAN-Russia Social Media Cooperation in Tourism” project during the 20th ARJCC Meeting.
The Meeting also discussed the situation in Ukraine. PR Kok reiterated Singapore’s position on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, as outlined in Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan’s Ministerial Statement on the Situation in Ukraine and its Implications, delivered in Parliament on 28 February 2022. PR Kok also recalled the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Statement on the Situation in Ukraine and the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Statement Calling for a Ceasefire in Ukraine issued on 26 February and 3 March 2022 respectively, and reiterated ASEAN’s call for an immediate ceasefire and the continuation of political dialogue that would lead to sustainable peace in Ukraine.
