For Singaporeans residing in India, there are two ways in which one can apply for Singapore Citizenship by descent/registration.

APPLYING IN PERSON
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED:
- Completed Citizenship application form. Please have page 4 notarized before an India Notary Public.
- One recent passport-sized colour photograph of child affixed on the completed citizenship application form. The photograph must be:
- 35 mm wide by 45 mm high without border and taken within the last three months
- taken full face without headgear, unless the applicant habitually wears a headgear in accordance with religious or racial customs. The headgear must not hide the applicant's facial features
- the facial image must be between 25 mm and 35 mm from chin to crown; and taken against plain white background with a matt or semi-matt finish
- Certified true copy of child’s birth certificate showing names of both parents
- Certified true copy of child’s passport (if applicable)
- Certified true copies of both parents’ Identity cards and passport bio-data pages
- Certified true copy of parents’ marriage certificate. If parents’ marriage was registered outside Singapore, child’s father is required to make a Statutory Declaration stating that (name of wife) is his one and only wife if he is the applicant for child’s citizenship.
- Certified true copy of Death Certificate/Divorce Certificate/Separation Deed/Custody document of child/children by previous spouses, if applicable. Letter of consent from ex-spouse if child is under joint-custody.
- Additional Documents if application is submitted one year after minor's birth / Singapore citizen(s) by registration
- Original letter of employment from parents’ current employer, stating the occupation, date of employment and gross salary per month (equivalent to Singapore dolloar), including latest payslip, if employed.
- Certified true copies of Income Tax Notice of Assessment for last 3 years preceding the date of application.
- Certified true copy of Business registration certificate from Accounting & Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA), latest balance sheet/profit and loss account if applicant is a sole proprietor/partner/Director of a company.
- CPF contributions history for last 12 months, if employed.
- Particulars of child’s other siblings (if any) with a copy of siblings’ Singapore birth certificate/Singapore citizenship certificate, passport, and/or adoption certificate.
PROCESSING FEE
Rs 5,000 for Citizenship Application
Rs 3,500 for a Certificate of Citizenship

NOTES
- The application has to be submitted within one year of the child’s birth. Otherwise, a letter of explanation is required for late submission.
- All documents must be duly notarized before a Notary Public.
- If you are unable to produce the document required, please provide an explanation in your covering letter.
- Processing time is approximately 6 to 8 weeks from the date of receipt of the complete application.
- Official translations are required if they are not in English.
- Additional documents may be required while processing your application, whenever necessary.
National Service (NS) Liability
Male applicants who are granted Singapore Citizenship status are required to register for NS upon reaching 16½ years old.
