Emeritus Senior Minister (ESM) Goh Chok Tong will visit India from 7 to 11 September 2014 to reaffirm the close bilateral ties between Singapore and India. To promote stronger links between the next generation of ministers from both countries, ESM Goh will be accompanied on his visit by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Home Affairs and Trade and Industry S Iswaran and Minister of State for National Development Desmond Lee.
In New Delhi, ESM Goh will call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and meet with Minister of Finance, Corporate Affairs and Defence Arun Jaitley and Minister of Urban Development Venkaiah Naidu. ESM Goh will also meet Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah as well as top industry leaders and opinion makers. ESM Goh will also meet some of his long-time friends including former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, and senior BJP leader L K Advani.
Besides the abovementioned meetings, Minister S Iswaran will call on some leaders and counterparts, including Minister for Civil Aviation Ashok Gajapathi Raju Pusapati, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power, Coal, and New and Renewable Energy Piyush Goyal, and Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Commerce and Industry and Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman.
In Hyderabad, ESM Goh will meet Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. ESM Goh will also meet several top business leaders who are based in Hyderabad. In Bhopal, ESM Goh will meet Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who will host ESM Goh’s delegation to an official lunch.
ESM Goh will be accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Trade and Industry, and the Urban Redevelopment Authority.
