Minister of Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and Parliamentary Affairs of the Republic of India Mr Venkaiah Naidu is in Singapore on a working visit from 6 to 8 November 2014. Mr Naidu is accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Urban Development.
On 6 November 2014, Mr Naidu called separately on Prime Minister (PM) Lee Hsien Loong and Emeritus Senior Minister (ESM) Goh Chok Tong.
During his meeting with Mr Naidu at the Istana, PM Lee reaffirmed the excellent and multi-faceted relations between Singapore and India. PM Lee and Mr Naidu exchanged views on urban solutions and “smart cities” development in India.
ESM Goh and Mr Naidu discussed recent developments in India since their last meeting in New Delhi in September 2014. Mr Naidu sought ESM Goh’s views on development issues and various urban initiatives that Singapore and India could potentially collaborate on.
During his visit, Mr Naidu will also be meeting Minister of State for National Development Desmond Lee on 7 November 2014, and visiting the Centre for Liveable Cities, NEWater Visitor Centre, Land Transport Authority, Housing Development Board, Public Utilities Board, Jurong Town Council and the Building Construction Authority.
