VISIT BY MINISTER FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS DR VIVIAN BALAKRISHNAN TO THE REPUBLIC OF INDIA, 11 OCTOBER 2015

11 Oct 2015

Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan will be visiting New Delhi, India, to co-chair the Fourth Meeting of the India-Singapore Joint Ministerial Committee (JMC) for Bilateral Cooperation with Indian Minister of External Affairs and Overseas Indian Affairs Sushma Swaraj on 12 October 2015.  Minister Balakrishnan will also be hosted to tea by Minister Swaraj.

First held in 2008, the India-Singapore JMC is a regular Ministerial dialogue process to review the state of bilateral relations, and explore new areas of cooperation.  The JMC Meeting takes on special significance this year as both countries commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, and are working to elevate relations to that of a Strategic Partnership during the official visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Singapore in November.

Minister Balakrishnan will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
