Mdm Chairperson,

Singapore supports a consensus-based decision on the question of further steps to be taken with respect to the draft articles.  Our work in the Sixth Committee must lead to a practical and effective outcome based on consensus that will strengthen accountability through wide acceptance and implementation by States of effective measures for the prevention and punishment of crimes against humanity.

2                           Considering the diverse views expressed and important issues raised in the Committee, Singapore believes that improvements to the substance of the draft articles that are grounded in established international legal rules and principles will bring Member States closer towards consensus, in order to achieve the effective prevention and punishment of crimes against humanity.

3                           My delegation would like to conclude by expressing our appreciation to the Chair of the Sixth Committee, members of the Bureau, the co-faciliators and the Secretariat for their leadership and work during this resumed session.

4                           Thank you for your attention.
