Travel Advice

Like any major city around the world, Singaporeans visiting Paris and other regions in France should be vigilant of their personal belongings and important documents (such as their passports). You are also advised to buy travel insurance before leaving Singapore as medical services can be expensive in Europe.

Singapore tourists arriving in Paris and travelling from Charles de Gaulle airport to city centre are advised to take precautions to avoid loss of property. Singapore tourists should put all the luggage in the boot of the car they travel in from the airport. Smaller items such as handbags and briefcases should be placed on the floor of the car by their feet instead of on their laps. This advice is being made as there have been a number of incidents involving Asian tourists who have had their personal belongings snatched from their car while travelling into the centre of Paris.

(1)

POMPIERS (Fire Department): dial 18. The pompiers may send their own ambulances with specially trained firemen who are able to provide first aid, or they could alert S.A.M.U. or SOS Medecins.

(2)

S.A.M.U. is the French national emergency organization whose 24-hour service provides assistance for all medical emergencies. Its ambulances are manned by teams of trained personnel, and are equipped for any cardiac or respiratory resuscitation. They can be reached by dialing 15 or; 01 45 67 50 50.

SOS Médecins is a private company for less critical medical emergencies and house calls. They can be reached at 01 47 07 77 77.
