1. Certificate of No Impediment 


    The laws of some countries require that, before a foreigner may marry within their jurisdiction, he/she must produce a certificate issued by the relevant authority of the country of which he/she is a national, stating that the authority does not know of any impediment to the marriage. Such a certificate is known as a Certificate of No Impediment or Nulla Osta Certificate or Affidavit of Eligibility to Marry.

    The Singapore Registry of Marriages (ROM) does not issue a Certificate of No Impediment. However, a Singapore citizen residing or working overseas may apply in writing directly to the ROM and obtain a Marital Status Search Results.

  2. Application for a Marital Status Search

    To apply for a Marital Status Search, please apply on-line at http://app.rom.gov.sg/emrs/rom_emrs_start.asp. The application requirements are as follows:-

    1. Completed application form.

    2. An International Bankdraft of S$35 (Singapore dollars thirty-five only) made payable to the "Registrar of Marriages, Singapore". Please note that the fee is subject to change without notice.

    3. Please provide your name in full (as appearing on NRIC), NRIC No, Sex and date of birth in the application form. You should also provide your postal address and contact number.

    4. Please send your application directly to the Registry of Marriages in Singapore.

  3. Application for a Certified Copy of a Marriage Certificate

    To obtain a certified copy of a Marriage Certificate, please apply on-line at https://app.rom.gov.sg/extract/rom_extract_start.asp. The application requirements are as follows:-

    1. Completed application form.

    2. An International Bankdraft of S$50 (Singapore dollars fifty only) made payable to the "Registrar of Marriages, Singapore". Please note that the fee is subject to change without notice.

    3. Please provide the name in full of the bridegroom and the bride (as appearing on NRIC), NRIC Nos, date of registration/marriage and the Marriage Certificate number. You should also provide your postal address and contact number in the application form.

    4. Please send your form directly to the Registry of Marriages in Singapore.
