Ambassador Stanley Loh's visit to Shanghai and Jiangsu

Ambassador Stanley Loh visited Shanghai and Jiangsu from 25-29 July 2012, taking the opportunity to call on several Shanghai and Jiangsu leaders. At the meeting with Pudong New Area Party Secretary Xu Lin, both parties reaffirmed our growing bilateral relations and encouraged collaboration in new areas, including human resource development and social governance. Ambassador also met with key think-tanks in Shanghai and had in-depth discussions on issues of interest. Ambassador also hosted dinner for members of the Shanghai-Singapore Business Association. 

 

In Nanjing, Ambassador called on Jiangsu Party Secretary Luo Zhijun and Nanjing Mayor Ji Jianye. Party Secretary Luo re-affirmed his strong support for the Singapore Nanjing Eco Hi-tech Island project. With Nanjing Mayor Ji Jianye, Ambassador discussed how Singapore could share its experience in hosting the inaugural Youth Olympics Games with Nanjing, which is hosting the next Games in 2014. Ambassador also called on Suzhou Party Secretary Jiang Hongkun and attended the Singapore National Day Dinner organized by the Suzhou-Singapore Club. Ambassador’s delegation included Consul-General Ong Siew Gay and officials from the Consulate-General and Embassy in Beijing.
