MFA SPOKESMAN'S COMMENTS : Situation in Yemen

In response to media queries on the situation in Yemen, the MFA Spokesman said:

In view of the serious security situation in Yemen, MFA recommends that Singaporeans defer all non-essential travel to Yemen for the time being.

Singaporeans who are already in Yemen are advised to avoid unnecessary travel within the country, in particular to avoid the areas where demonstrations are occurring. They should be on high alert and monitor the news closely. They should also take the necessary precautions for their personal safety. Singaporeans currently in Yemen who are concerned about the security situation should leave if it is safe to do so.

Singaporeans who plan to travel to Yemen or are in Yemen should eRegister immediately if not already done so at: http://eregister.mfa.gov.sg/. This will enable us to contact them and render the necessary assistance in case of an emergency.

MFA will continue to closely monitor the situation. Should Singaporeans require consular assistance, they can contact the MFA Duty Officer (24-hours) at:
