MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS PRESS STATEMENT: VISIT OF INTERNATIONAL ATOMIC ENERGY AGENCY DIRECTOR GENERAL YUKIYA AMANO TO SINGAPORE, 1 - 3 AUGUST 2010

 

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Mr Yukiya Amano will visit Singapore from 1 to 3 August 2010 under MFA's International Organisations Distinguished Visitors Programme (IODVP). Mr Amano was invited by Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo during their bilateral meeting at the sidelines of the World Economic Forum Annual Davos Meetings in January this year. This will be Mr Amano's first visit to Singapore since taking up office in December 2009.

Mr Amano will call on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and will be hosted to lunch separately by Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Balaji Sadasivan and Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry S Iswaran. As part of the Distinguished Visitors Programme, Mr Amano will also visit the National Cancer Centre and deliver a public lecture at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy on the challenges and opportunities in the work of the IAEA.
