MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS PRESS STATEMENT: HIS EXCELLENCY SAYYID BADR BIN HAMAD BIN HAMOOD AL BUSAIDI, REPRESENTATIVE OF HIS MAJESTY SULTAN QABOOS BIN SAID AL SAID OF THE SULTANATE OF OMAN, CALLS ON PRIME MINISTER LEE HSIEN LOONG AND MINISTER FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS K SHANMUGAM
Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Al Busaidi called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana today. HE Sayyid Badr was visiting Singapore as the Representative of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said of the Sultanate of Oman to attend the opening ceremony of the Maritime Experiential Museum and Aquarium where the Jewel of Muscat, an exact replica of a 9th century dhow that sailed from Muscat to Singapore and presented to Singapore as a state gift, is permanently displayed.
PM Lee and HE Sayyid Badr lauded the Jewel of Muscat as a symbol of friendship between the two countries, and welcomed further initiatives to strengthen the bilateral relationship.
Prior to calling on PM Lee, HE Sayyid Badr called on Minister for Foreign Affairs K Shanmugam. They discussed the close ties between Oman and Singapore as well as other subjects of mutual interest.
