The Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore His Excellency Premjith S met the Executive Chairman of the Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority (EFSA) Mr Sherif S Samy on 15 January 2014 to explore ways that the financial regulatory bodies of Singapore and Egypt could learn from one other and share best practices.
During the meeting at EFSA, Mr Samy outlined EFSA’s priorities and its key initiatives for 2014. Ambassador Premjith and Mr Samy also discussed the investment climate in Egypt. Some areas of cooperation that Mr Samy suggested were in the regulation of microfinancing, development of a multi-license for mortgage and in the area of Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs). Mr Samy also offered to conduct a forum to explain the regulatory changes that were taking place in Egypt for foreign businesses. Ambassador Premjith welcomed these proposals.
