Singapore is a founding member of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and a strong supporter of an open, rules-based, multilateral trading system. Singapore and the WTO have a history of close and mutually beneficial collaboration. Singapore had the honour to host the first WTO Ministerial Conference in 1996. Since 1996, Singapore and the WTO have partnered to deliver training and technical assistance on international trade issues through our MOU on Third Country Training Programmes (TCTP). Singapore was also the host of the WTO’s Trade Policy Course for the Asia Pacific region from 2007-2010. In Geneva, the Singapore Mission actively participates and contributes to all areas of WTO work, including in the negotiations, regular Committee work and dispute settlement.
